To mark its fifth anniversary, Hemerion organized an exceptional Scientific Board Meeting at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris, open to investors and major players in the MedTech and Pharma/Biotech industries. The aim of this event was to unveil the latest clinical advances in glioblastoma and explore the potential of the Pentalafen/Heliance combination therapy in the treatment of several other major cancers.
With its roots in academia and clinical practice, Hemerion has maintained an intense R&D program since its inception, with a view to improving its technologies and finding the most innovative applications for them. On the occasion of its 5th anniversary, Hemerion decided to open its scientific advisory board to investors, medtech & pharma industry leaders, providing a unique opportunity to explore the potential of the Pentalafen/Heliance combination therapy in several oncology indications.
Clinical advances in the treatment of glioblastoma
The first part of the conference was devoted to clinical results obtained in the treatment of glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of brain cancer, for which Hemerion is currently finalizing a multicenter Phase I/II trial in Europe and the US.
These results were described in detail by two neurosurgeons who are pioneers in this technology: Prof. Reyns from Lille University Hospital and Prof. Hadjipanayis from UPMC.
Dr. Everardo Saad, recently appointed Medical Director of Hemerion, then presented the design of the pivotal clinical phase, intended to support marketing authorizations with the FDA and EMA. Scheduled for the first half of 2026, its launch heralds the commercialization of the therapy on both continents as early as 2029.
What place does Hemerion technology have in the standard of care for brain cancer?
Performed in 30 minutes during tumor resection surgery, Pentalafen/Heliance therapy fits perfectly into the current standard of care as a complement to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Clinical studies also show that it has no negative impact on healthy cells.
