Prof. Costas Hadjipanayis joins Pittsburg

Prof. Hadjipanayis, member of Hemerion’s Scientific Advisory Board, named “Top Doctor” in Neurosurgery by Castle Connolly in the USA

Prof. Hadjipanayis has been named “Top Doctor” in the Neurosurgery category by the independent organization Castle Connolly. This ranking is established each year and recognizes 7% of the best American practitioners based on an objective and independent assessment.

Castle Connolly ranking of the best doctors

Since 1991, Castle Connolly has compiled a list of America’s Top Doctors based on an objective, independent selection and ranking process.

Doctors on the list are nominated annually by their peers and undergo a rigorous evaluation process by a committee of experienced physicians. Criteria evaluated include: experience, education, hospital career, research activity, patient outcomes and soft skills.

Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors ranking is highly selective: only 67,000 physicians are ranked, representing only 7% of the 950,000 physicians practicing in the United States.

Among these top physicians is Prof. Costas G. Hadjipanayis, a member of Hemerion’s Scientific Advisory Board and co-investigator of the ongoing clinical trial at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

Constantinos G. Hadjipanayis has devoted his entire career to the treatment of brain tumor patients. He completed his neurosurgical residency and graduate PhD training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine with additional neurosurgical oncology training at the University of California San Francisco.

He is also executive vice-chair for the University of Pittsburgh Neurological Surgery, director of the UPMC Center for Image-Guided Neurosurgery (CIGNS) and serves as co-director of the department’s Brain Tumor Program. Dr. Hadjipanayis also directs the Brain Tumor Nanotechnology Laboratory in the Hillman Cancer Center and has been the principal investigator of multiple clinical trials.
